Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 October 2026
This policy explains what information the Taki app (the "App") uses, why, who helps us process it, and how you stay in control. Taki is made by List or Lift Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), the data controller for the information described here.

1. The short version
- Taki has no accounts. Your profile, goals and food log are stored on your phone, not on our servers.
- We use your location only to find restaurants near you. We do not keep a history of where you have been.
- Photos you take of a menu or a plate are sent to an AI provider to read them, then discarded. We do not store them.
- We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use advertising trackers.
- You can delete everything at any time with Delete my data in your Profile, or by deleting the App.
2. Information you give us
During setup and in your Profile you tell Taki about yourself so it can work out your calories and pick dishes for you. This can include:
- Body details: sex, age, height, current weight and goal weight.
- Goals and habits: your goal (for example losing or gaining weight), activity level, timeline and how you like to eat out.
- Food preferences: your diet style (such as keto or plant based), foods you love and foods you avoid.
- Your food log: the meals you log and their calories and macros.
- Survey answers: such as how you heard about Taki.
Some of this, such as your weight and diet, may count as health information under the law where you live. You choose what to enter, and it is used only to personalise the App for you.
Where it lives: all of the above is stored on your device. When you use a feature that needs it, such as asking Taki what to order, the relevant part (for example your calories left today and your diet) is sent to our backend with that one request to produce your answer. It is not saved to a profile on our side.
3. Information used when you use a feature
Location
If you allow it, Taki uses your device's location to show restaurants near you. The coordinates are sent to our backend and to Google's places service to find nearby restaurants. We store the restaurants and their menus so the next person gets them instantly, but we do not store your location or link it to you. You can turn location off in your iPhone's Settings and search manually instead.
Photos
When you snap a menu or your plate, the photo is sent to our backend and on to an AI provider that reads it and returns dishes or a calorie estimate. We do not keep the photo afterwards. Taki only asks for camera or photo access when you use these features.
Questions to Taki
When you ask Taki a question, your message is sent to an AI provider together with the context needed to answer it, such as your remaining calories and macros, your diet and the dishes at restaurants near you. We do not store your conversations.
Notifications
Reminders, such as a note before your free trial ends, are scheduled on your phone. We do not run a push server and do not collect a push token.
Technical data
Like any online service, our backend provider processes your IP address and basic request data in order to answer requests, keep the service running and prevent abuse. These logs are kept for a short time and are not used to identify you.
4. Purchases
Subscriptions are bought through Apple. Apple handles payment, and we never see your card details. We use RevenueCat to check whether you have an active subscription. RevenueCat receives an anonymous ID generated by the App plus your purchase receipts from Apple, not your name or email.
5. How we use information
- To calculate your calorie and macro targets and keep your food log.
- To find restaurants near you, read their menus and rank dishes for your goal.
- To answer your questions and read the photos you take.
- To unlock the features of your subscription.
- To keep the service secure, fix problems and prevent abuse.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build profiles about you.
6. Who processes information for us
We do not sell personal information. We use a small number of service providers who process data only on our instructions and only to run the App:
- Supabase: hosts our backend and the shared restaurant and menu database.
- Google: finds restaurants near a location, and reads photos and menus through its AI models.
- OpenRouter and the AI model providers it routes to (including Google and Anthropic): read photos and menus and answer your questions. We send only what each request needs, and nothing that identifies you by name.
- Apple and RevenueCat: payments and subscription status.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a sale or merger of our business, in which case this policy continues to apply.
Ordering links in the App open other services such as Talabat or a restaurant's own website. Once you leave Taki, their privacy policies apply.
7. AI features
Menu reading, dish rankings, calorie estimates and answers from Taki are produced with the help of AI. AI can be wrong, so treat its output as a helpful estimate rather than a fact. See our Terms for more on nutrition estimates and allergies.
8. How long we keep information
Your profile and food log stay on your phone until you delete them with Delete my data, or delete the App. Photos and questions are processed to answer your request and are not kept by us. Our AI and hosting providers may keep request data for a short time under their own terms, to run their service and prevent abuse. Subscription records are kept by Apple and RevenueCat for as long as needed for billing and the law.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the UK, the EU and several US states, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict how it is used, to take a copy of it, and to withdraw consent at any time. Because almost everything Taki knows about you is on your own phone, you can do most of this yourself in the App. For anything else, email listorlift@gmail.com. We may need to confirm the request is genuinely from you.
We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, and we will never treat you differently for using your rights. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
10. International transfers
We are based in the United Kingdom, and some of our providers process data in the United States and other countries. Where data leaves the UK or the EEA, we rely on recognised safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Security
Data travels between the App and our backend over encrypted connections, and access to our systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but keeping your personal data on your device in the first place is our strongest protection.
12. Children
Taki is a calorie and nutrition app and is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used Taki, contact us and we will help remove anything we hold.
13. Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, tell you in the App.
